Choosing the Perfect Name for your New Companion

Choosing the perfect name for your horse can be a difficult decision. You want to make sure you do your animal justice when choosing a name, considering that’s the name it will have for its whole life! Coming up with a name can be a hard process, but it is definitely worth it in the end. Here are a few tips for picking out the perfect name for your animal:

Personality Traits

When you first get your new horse, it is important to bond with it. While bonding with your animal, take a list of its personality traits – is your animal energetic? Laid back? Gentle? Taking notice of your animal’s characteristics can help you with the naming process, as well as help you to get to know your new companion on a more personal level.

Physical Characteristics

For example, if you notice that your horse has any unusual markings, try to figure out what the shape of the mark looks like to you. Does the mark resemble a coin? • Callie – Derived from the Hindu Goddess Kali, who is known to represent motherly-love, Callie is a unique and meaningful name for nurturing horses.

Don’t be afraid to give your animal a name that is both meaningful and original. Evaluate your horse and pick out its unique traits and characteristics. Incorporate the adjectives and verbs you come up with into the naming process. The name you choose should match your horse’s personality!
